A dental crown is a cap-like structure made of metal or porcelain, which rests on the surface of a prepared teeth. It restores the aesthetics, structure, and function of damaged teeth. Dental crowns are also useful in masking permanent teeth stains which cannot be removed with professional whitening.
We will first prepare your teeth by removing a thin layer of the natural tooth structure, to create room for the attachment of the crown. Next, Dr. Molina will make an impression of your teeth which will be sent to the dental laboratory for the fabrication of the crown. Once the crown has been received back from the lab, it will be attached to the prepared tooth by using an adhesive cement.
A bridge is a fixed dental appliance that replaces missing teeth. Bridges gain their support from adjacent healthy natural or artificial teeth with the help of crowns cemented on each abutment tooth on both sides. Artificial teeth, or pontics, are then attached to these crowns so that the bridge remains fixed in its position. The method of preparation and fabrication of dental bridges is like of the crowns.

These are also known as indirect fillings since they are prepared in the dental laboratory and then attached to the damaged teeth. An inlay is used to restore small teeth defects. An onlay, on the other hand, is a greater filling that extends beyond the chewing surfaces of the teeth.
A root canal treatment is required when the sensitive pulp tissue inside a tooth becomes severely inflamed. Dr. Molina will first look at the x-rays of the infected tooth to evaluate the extent of the infection as well as the shape and length of the root canals.
Always making sure that you remain comfortable and pain-free, we will perform the procedure under the effect of local anesthesia. The procedure will consist on gaining access into the underlying pulp tissue where the inflammation exists and ultimately removing it from the tooth’s interior. The canals are thoroughly disinfected and shaped with the help of endodontic files. The canals are then dried and filled with an inert material. The root canal procedure is completed in multiple steps and usually, requires 2 or 3 visits to our dental office.
When all attempts at restoring a tooth have failed, severely damaged and broken teeth need to be extracted and replaced with artificial ones. Besides, teeth may also need to be extracted for orthodontic reasons or to remove teeth that have become partially or completely impacted within the jaw bone.
